From September 21 to 25, 2025, the UNESCO International Centre for Engineering Education (ICEE) was invited to participate in the 2025 World Engineering Education Forum and Global Engineering Deans Council (WEEF&GEDC 2025) Annual Conference held in Daegu, Republic of Korea. The theme of the conference was “Engineering Education We Need.” Dr. XU Lihui, Assistant to Secretary General of ICEE; Dr. SHEN Ye, Assistant to Secretary General of ICEE and Director of the Editorial Office of Engineering Education Review; Dr. FU Jie, Postdoctoral Fellow and Assistant Researcher at ICEE; and LI Chao from the ICEE Secretariat, attended the conference.

At the parallel session, Dr. FU Jie delivered a research presentation titled “Engineering Education as a Discipline: A Comparative Study of International Cases” The report was based on ICEE’s latest research findings, covering 24 international and Chinese cases, and highlighted major global trends, regional differences, and China’s pilot initiatives in engineering education disciplinary development. Dr. Xu Lihui contributed comments and insights during the discussion session.
During the conference, the Engineering Education Review (EER) journal organized a special session titled “Utilizing the EER International Journal as a Platform to Achieve Practical Collaboration Between Industry and Education in Engineering Education.” The session was chaired by Dr. SHEN Ye. LI Chao and representatives from the EER Industry Committee participating and delivering keynote speeches.
The ICEE delegation actively engaged in in-depth exchanges with experts from the engineering education and industry sectors across various countries and regions. The delegation shared ICEE’s latest research achievements and development experiences in the field of engineering education, laying a solid foundation for establishing broader international collaborations in the future.
