LI Xiaohong, President of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of CAE.

He is a member of the 19th Central Committee, member of the 11th National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and deputy to the 12th National People’s Congress.

He was the President of Chongqing University, President of Wuhan University, Vice-Minister of Chinese Ministry of Education, and member of the CPC Leading Group of the Ministry of Education. As an expert in mine security, he has been long engaged in the research of water jet technology and its application in coal mine security projects, and made a number of important research results in coal bed gas exploitation as well as gas disaster prevention and control in complex coal mines.

He has won a number of national and provincial scientific and technological progress awards and international academic awards, published six books and more than 200 papers.
