From August 12 to 13, 2026, the 2026 First Enlarged Meeting of the Academic Working Committee of the China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA) was held in Kunming, Yunnan. Responsible officials from the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and the Education Committee of the Chinese Academy of Engineering attended to provide guidance. Tu Shandong, Vice President of the Accreditation Association, Li Maoguo, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, and Zhou Dingwen, Vice Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, attended the meeting and delivered remarks. The meeting was chaired by Gu Peihua, Director of the Academic Working Committee, and Chen Daoxu, Deputy Director. Wang Sunyu, Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the UNESCO International Centre for Engineering Education (ICEE) and Professor at the School of Education of Tsinghua University, Qiao Weifeng, Assistant Secretary-General of ICEE and Associate Professor in Research at the School of Education of Tsinghua University, and Fu Jie, postdoctoral researcher at ICEE, attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on how engineering education accreditation work can better serve national strategy and proactively adapt to industrial transformation, with in-depth discussions centered on the direction of accreditation reform and development, iterative updates to accreditation standards, the implementation of industry-education integration, AI-assisted accreditation applications, and strengthening the accreditation brand.

On the topic of iterative optimization of accreditation standards, Associate Professor in Research Qiao Weifeng presented at the meeting considerations regarding preliminary research on a future-oriented new version of the general standards, and engaged in thorough exchanges and discussions with the participating experts on the relevant topics. The meeting concluded that it is necessary to proactively adapt to new circumstances and new requirements, actively carry out research, and promptly update the relevant requirements concerning industry-education integration and artificial intelligence.

This meeting was the first academic conference held after CEEAA's third member congress. More than 20 specially invited experts attended, including members of the Academic Working Committee, along with representatives from some Excellence Engineer Academies, member enterprises, specialized committees, and the industry-education integration and AI accreditation research project team. Drawing on its accumulated research in engineering education accreditation, international mutual recognition of engineer competencies, and other areas of engineering education, ICEE provided support for the revision of China's accreditation standards and laid a more solid foundation for advancing China's engineering education standards onto the international stage.
