GONG Peng, Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee, Dean of the School of Science and Head of the Department of Earth System Science, Tsinghua University. Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees of geography from Nanjing University in 1984 and 1986 respectively, and PhD degree from the School of Environment, University of Waterloo, Canada in 1990.

He got tenure in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management at the University of California, Berkeley in 1997 and was promoted to full professor in 2001. He currently is a professor at Tsinghua University, head of the Department of Earth Systems Science and Dean of the School of Science, Tsinghua University; and Dean of Tsinghua Urban Institute.
