On January 8, 2025, the UNESCO International Centre for Engineering Education (ICEE) held its Global Partners' New Year Exchange Meeting in Beijing. The meeting was attended by prominent figures including LI Haiquan, representative of the ICEE Global Leadership Development Base and Deputy General Manager of the Human Resources Department at China Harbour Engineering Co., Ltd.; LOU Sha, Managing Director of the ICEE Future Science and Technology Education Base and Beijing Huahe Cultural Development Co., Ltd.; LIU Binli, Director of the ICEE Future Science and Technology Education Base and Founder of Smart Cloud School Institute of Education Science; SHI Banghong, Head of the ICEE "Science Education and Engineering Education Collaborative Promotion Plan" Special Committee and President of Beijing Huizhong Education Research Institute; ZENG Jinsong, representative of the ICEE "Ballet Art Education Plan" and legal representative of Global Ballet Center (online); Professor WANG Sunyu of the Tsinghua University Institute of Education; QIAO Weifeng, Assistant to the Secretary General and Associate Professor of Research at ICEE (online); XU Lihui, Assistant to the Secretary General of ICEE; and other distinguished guests. The meeting was presided over by SHEN Ye, Assistant to the Secretary General of ICEE and Secretary General of the Global Partnership Committe.
LI Haiquan, representing the ICEE Global Leadership Development Base, presented a comprehensive report covering three key areas: strengthening the global training of engineering talents, promoting the international implementation of Chinese standards, and advancing international cooperation and technical exchanges. LIU Binli, representing the ICEE Future Science and Technology Education Base, also delivered a work report. Over the past year, the base has not only advanced engineering education through high-level talent development programs and public welfare initiatives like the "Little Engineer" project, but has also supported continuing vocational education and employment in ethnic minority regions. In 2025, the base will continue to focus on enhancing secondary vocational engineering education and promoting health engineering education. LOU Xia, representing Beijing Huahe Cultural Development Co., Ltd., expressed continued support for ICEE’s development and emphasized the potential for expanded cooperation across various fields. SHI Banghong, on behalf of the Beijing Huizhong Education Research Institute, provided an update on the progress of ICEE’s "Collaborative Promotion Plan for Science Education and Engineering Education." ZENG Jinsong, representing ICEE's "Ballet Art Education Program," reported on initiatives such as organizing ballet appreciation activities for engineering students and publishing ballet art education textbooks.
XU Lihui presented the achievements of ICEE’s work in 2024 and outlined the work plan for 2025. He emphasized that ICEE’s development has been made possible through the strong support of its partners, and assured that ICEE will continue to strengthen and expand its stable global partnerships. SHEN Ye provided an update on the progress of the journal Engineering Education Review, highlighting her commitment to furthering exchanges and cooperation in the field of engineering education through journal publications, international conferences, and collaborative projects. During the exchange and discussion session, attendees engaged in in-depth conversations, sharing practical experiences from their respective fields and actively exploring future opportunities for collaboration.

In his concluding remarks, Professor WANG Sunyu highlighted the unique strengths and characteristics of each base, reaffirming that ICEE will continue to support and collaborate closely with all partners. He emphasized ICEE’s commitment to expanding its international network and growing its global partner team. Professor WANG underscored the crucial role of engineering education and practice, urging global partners to continue encouraging and supporting students in actively participating in challenging engineering projects. By doing so, students will hone their engineering skills and enhance their overall competence, thus contributing to the advancement of engineering education.
During the meeting, WANG Sunyu and SHI Banghong jointly signed an agreement of the ICEE "Collaborative Promotion Plan for Science Education and Engineering Education." Both parties will collaborate on academic activities and educational initiatives related to engineering education, aiming to foster the development of an academic community for engineering education.
