Zhang Limin is a Chair Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, a Changjiang Scholar Professor appointed by the Ministry of Education, the Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the Director of the Digital Bay Area and Intelligent Disaster Mitigation Laboratory. He is engaged in research on the mechanisms and risk control of landslides and debris flows, dam safety, and digital twin technology for disaster risk management. He serves as the Chair of the Dam Technology Committee of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), the Editor-in-Chief of Georisk, the Editor-in-Chief of Geodata & AI, the Associate Editor of the Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, and a member of the editorial boards for journals such as Engineering Geology and Computers and Geotechnics. He is also the recipient of the first “National Excellent Engineer” award, a distinguished lecturer for the Peck Lecture of the American Society of Engineers, and a lecturer for the ISSMGE Lacasse Lecture.
