George Kunihiro, Architect / Professor Emeritus at Kokushikan University. Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University and Kyoto University of Art and Design. In 1982, Prof. Kunihiro founded George Kunihiro Architect in Los Angeles, and in 1987, moved the practice to New York City, where he has worked on numerous projects in Japan and the U.S. Prof. Kunihiro has also taught at prestigious schools such as Yale University, Columbia University, and Harvard University with architect Tadao Ando. In 1997, he relocated his practice to Tokyo and was invited to the post of Associate Professor at Kokushikan University. In 2003, he was promoted to the Professor until his retirement in 2022.
George has received numerous international recognitions including the Presidential Medals from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and from Federacion de Colegios de Arquitectos de Mexico in recognition of significant contribution to the field of architecture. Professor Kunihiro is currently a Council Member of the International Union of Architects (UIA). He is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Japan Institute of Architects (JIA).
