On June 21-23, 2023, the 9th International Research Symposium on Problem-Based Learning (IRSPBL 2023) , jointly organized by Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s New Engineering Education Transformation (MIT-NEET) program, Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), and Aalborg University (AAU), took place in Boston, United States. Prof. LIN Jian from the Institute of Education at Tsinghua University and Dr. XU Lihui, Assistant to Secretary-General of the ICEE, attended the event.
Edward Crawley, Co-chairperson of the Advisory Board of ICEE and Professor at MIT, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Symposium. The theme of the symposium is "Engineering Education Transformation 2023" (TEE 2023). The symposium revolves around the topics of the development trend of international engineering education, how to cultivate engineering technology talents with the ability to solve complex problems, system thinking, and interdisciplinary cooperation in response to the global challenges of engineering education transformation, as well as how higher education and industry stakeholders to transform. ICEE took part in the showcase session, and introduced the attendees on its recent research projects.
At the IRSPBL 2023
On June 25-28, 2023, the 2023 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Annual Conference was held in Baltimore, Maryland. Prof. WU Qidi, Director of ICEE, was invitied by ASEE TV to shoot a promotional video, which was broadcast during the Conference. Dr. XU Lihui, Assistant to Secretary-General of ICEE, attended the event.

At the 2023 ASEE Annual Conference
The ICEE 2023 ASEE promotional video aims to disseminate Tsinghua University’s engineering education, especially its innovations and breakthroughs in the field of engineering education, to the global engineering education community. It highlights Tsinghua University’s innovations in cultivating engineering, scientific and technological talents and improving the quality and equity of engineering education, as well as ICEE’s achievements in academic research and international cooperation in recent years.
This year marks ASEE’s 130th anniversary. During the Conference, the 2nd UNESCO Engineering Report (2021) that was jointly published by ICEE was displayed. Besides, the vision and mission of ICEE as well as its recent research projects were introduced to the attendees. Futhermore, ICEE also conducted in-depth communication with ASEE Prism, an academic journal of ASEE, laying the foundation for cooperation in the future extension of ICEE’s academic research platform.
Founded in 1893, ASEE has been committed to furthering education in engineering and engineering technology, and it is one of the oldest and most influential engineering education organizations in the world.
