The Global Dialogue on Digital Education series titled “Piloting the AI-driven Digital Transformation of Higher Education” kicked off in August and September. The seminar was co-organized by the Global MOOC and Online Education Alliance, Tsinghua University, XuetangX and the International Centre for Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO (ICEE). 
 
On Sept. 8, the fourth seminar of the Online Education Dialogues series themed “The Impact of AI on the Role and Teaching Practice of Teachers in Higher Education” was kicked off. The seminar aimed to share the innovative approaches to AI-driven teaching and the knowledge related to digital transformation, analyze the impact of AI on the role and teaching practice of teachers, and promote the effective integration of AI into teachers’ teaching to improve their teaching quality and effectiveness.

Experts invited to attend the seminar included FENG Juan, Hon Hai Chair Professor at the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University and deputy head of the Department of Management Science and Engineering at Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School; Carlos Gershelsson, an Empire Innovation Professor of the Department of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering, Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science at State University of New York at Binghamton USA; Sara K. Howard, a professor from the School of Education and the Education Lead of the SMART Infrastructure Facility, University of Wollongong, Australia; Guillermo Barrios del Valle, a scholar from the Institute of Renewable Energies, National Autonomous University of Mexico; and Hiroya Sato, a senior staff of DX Promotion Group at the University of Tokyo.

On August 29, the third seminar of the Online Education Dialogues series titled “Piloting AI-driven Digital Transformation of Higher Education” was kicked off. The dialogue served as a platform for experts to exchange insights and practical experience on AI-enabled higher education teaching, discuss the challenges and opportunities facing higher education in the AI era, explore the direction and role of AI in reshaping future higher education, and promote collaboration and knowledge sharing in AI-driven digital transformation of higher education. ZHANG Zhongxuan, Head of International Cooperation of the Online Education Centre of Tsinghua University, chaired the event.

Among the experts invited to the seminar were Héctor Benítez Pérez, Director of the Department of Computer Science and Information and Communication Technology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico; Maria Mercedes T. Rodrigo, a professor from the Department of Information Systems and Computer Science and Director of the Ateneo Laboratory for the Learning Science at Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines; Sergei Sosnovsky, Assistant Professor of Software Technology for Learning and Teaching at  the Department of Information and Computing Science and Coordinator of the AI Education Laboratory at Utrecht University, Netherlands; and Kokoy Siti Komariah, Project Manager of IT Department at the Indonesia Cyber Education Institute.

XuetangX is the first global partner of ICEE. Through cooperation, the two parties actively explore the deep integration of online education and engineering education, and vigorously promote the sharing of high-quality engineering education resources to contribute to engineering capacity building. The dialogues were broadcast live on XuetangX to a global audience of more than 2700 per seminar.
