On December 5, 2024, the 2024 Lancang-Mekong Engineers Forum was held in Kunming. LUO Hui, Executive Secretary and Director General for International Affairs of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), Vice Chairperson and joint Secretary-General of Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE); LIU Yong, Vice Governor of Yunnan Province; Hla Win HTAY, General Secretary of Myanmar Engineering Council (MEngC); Sutha KHAODHIAR, Treasurer of the Council of Engineers Thailand (COET); and Dung Viet DANG, Presidium Member of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) and Chairman of Vietnam Federation of Civil Engineering Associations, attended the forum and delivered speeches. QIAO Weifeng, Secretary-General Assistant of ICEE, Associate Professor of Research at the lnstitute of Education, Tsinghua University, was invited to attend the forum and deliver a keynote speech.

24 Lancang-Mekong Engineers Forum

QIAO Weifeng delivered a keynote speech titled "Strengthening Engineering Education and Mutual Recognition of Engineers in Lancang-Mekong Countries". He emphasized that industrial transformation poses significant challenges to the development of engineering capabilities and highlighted closer cooperation as a crucial strategy for addressing these challenges. QIAO proposed five key factors to enhance engineering education and achieve mutual recognition of engineers in the Lancang-Mekong region: policy cooperation, standard mutual recognition, curriculum resource sharing, practical collaboration, and partnerships. He also stressed the importance of promoting these efforts to advance the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Ltd..More than 90 registered engineers from Mekong River Basin countries, including Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, along with engineering members of relevant national societies, local scientific associations, and representatives from enterprises and universities in Yunnan Province, participated in the event.

Qiao Weifeng Attended 2024 Lancang-Mekong Engineers Forum

The 2024 Lancang-Mekong Engineers Forum, held for the first time as part of the series of scientific and cultural exchange activities in the Lancang-Mekong region during the 2024 Tengchong Scientists Forum, aims to establish a long-term dialogue and exchange mechanism for engineers from Lancang-Mekong countries. It seeks to deepen cooperation in engineering technology among these countries, promote the enhancement of engineering capabilities and cross-regional mobility of engineers, and improve people's well-being through engineering technology innovation.
