On November 30, 2025, the 2025 Tsinghua Maker Day Series of Events, themed “Youth in Action, Leading in Science and Innovation,” was held at Tsinghua University. Peng Gang, Vice President of Tsinghua University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote address. Professor Wang Sunyu, Deputy Director and Secretary-General of ICEE and Professor at the Tsinghua University School of Education, as well as Qiao Weifeng, Assistant to Secretary-General of ICEE and Associate Professor in Research, were invited to attend the event.
Professor Wang Sunyu participated in the “Seminar on the Integration, Articulation, and Innovation of Science and Technology Education” and delivered a keynote speech entitled “Science and Innovation Education and Engineering Education.” He pointed out that, in the context of building a strong education system by 2035, talent cultivation faces an urgent need for “earlier identification, faster development, and more interdisciplinary integration.” The traditional three-stage model of “high school–university–workplace” education should evolve by integrating science and innovation education with engineering education, upgrading from simple “sequential articulation” to “spiral coupling.” This means sparking students’ interest through real-problem-driven science and innovation activities at the primary and secondary school levels, and strengthening competencies at the university level through engineering education accreditation and interdisciplinary projects, thereby forming a systematic innovation capacity.
The 11th Advanced Seminar on Engineering Culture and Quality Education was held concurrently. Qiao Weifeng attended the seminar and engaged in in-depth discussions with participating guests on topics such as strengthening international mutual recognition of engineering competencies and collaboratively cultivating interdisciplinary engineering talents oriented toward sustainable development.

More than 1,200 participants, including experts and scholars from multiple universities, maker representatives, entrepreneurs, and alumni, took part in the activities.
