Jing Yi (Yvonne) Wang is a first-year PhD student studying Information and Communication Engineering under the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University. She worked with Professor Yong Li to conduct interdisciplinary research relating to the topics of human-computer interaction and social computing. She received her bachelor’s degree from University of Toronto, double majoring in Psychology and Molecular Genetics & Microbiology, and was given the 2018 UofT Excellence Award in Social Sciences and Humanities. She then pursued a master’s degree in Social-Organizational Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University. Striving to forge an inclusive and accepting community, she volunteered to teach skiing to children with developmental and physical challenges, give piano lessons to children without access to formal music education, and provide functional and social care to elderly patients at a hospital. She has also interned at the Wildlife Conservation Society, an international non-governmental organization, to help protect biodiversity and inspire people to value nature.
