Prof Dr Bart van Arem is a full professor in Transport Modelling at the department of Transport & Planning of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at TU Delft. Since the late 90-ies, he has conducted pioneering research on the analysis and modelling the implications of intelligent vehicles. Such implications may vary from changes in driving and travel behaviour, traffic flows in networks and modal change, road and IT infrastructure and the spatial design of urban regions. His research has a strong modelling and simulation component based on empirics wherever possible and always with users of the research in mind. As Pro Vice Rector Magnificus for Doctoral Affairs, he is responsible for the formal procedures and operation regarding all PhD defenses at TU Delft. He serves as founding Editor in Chief of the IEEE Open Journal for Intelligent Transportation Systems https://ieee-itss.org/pub/oj-its/
