XU Subin is currently Chair Professor at the School of Architecture of Tianjin University, China. She has received Ph.D. degrees from both Tianjin University and the University of Tokyo. She specializes in the field of architectural history and preservation. In the past, she has worked in numerous institutions, including: as Postdoctoral Fellow at Tsinghua University; Research Fellow at the University of Tokyo; Adjunct tutor of Tokyo Zokei University and Meiji University in Japan; Visiting Associate Professor at the International Research Center for Japanese Studies (Kyoto); Visiting professor at the Université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne); and Visiting professor and Adjunct Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is the chief leader of the Major Project of the National Social Science Foundation and the Major Project in Art of the National Social Science Foundation.
Prof. Xu has received the awards including the Prize of the Architectural Institute of Japan, the Prize of the Society of Architectural Historians of Japan, and the Prize of the Japan Urban Planning Society. In terms of national awards, she has been honoured with: the 1st Prize and 2nd Prize of "Science Research Famous Achievement Award in Higher Institution" issued by the Ministry of Education of China, "the China Publishing Government Award"; and "National Ten Thousand Plan Talents" .
