Xu Yitao, born in August 1972, is a member of the China Democratic League, a Ph.D., an associate professor at level two and a doctoral supervisor at Peking University, the Director of the Teaching and Research Section of Cultural Relics and Architecture in the School of Archaeology and Museology, a member of the Fifteenth Committee on Culture and the Arts of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League, the Chief Expert of a major project of the National Social Science Foundation, an evaluation expert for the National Cultural Relics Administration, the Executive Deputy Director of the Architectural Archaeology Committee of the Chinese Archaeological Society, and a member of the editorial board for the “Cultural Relics” journal and the “Journal of Architectural History”. His main research fields are architectural archaeology and cultural heritage protection. He has been engaged in the teaching and curriculum system construction for the Archaeology (Cultural Relics and Architecture) major at Peking University for a long time. He has been awarded the Second Prize for National Higher Education Teaching Achievements (as the first completer), the First Prize for Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievements (as the first completer), the title of Outstanding Undergraduate Course Lecturer in Beijing Higher Education Institutions, the Peking University Teaching Excellence Award, the Peking University Top Ten Teachers Award, and the Golden Statue Award for Heritage Protection by the Chinese Archaeological Society, among others.
