On December 6, Aung Kyaw Myat, President of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) and President of Myanmar Engineering Council, Htay Oo, Joint Secretary of the President of Myanmar Engineering Council, and Tin Latt, Advisor to President of Myanmar Engineering Council, visited the UNESCO International Centre for Engineering Education (ICEE) and held a meeting. WANG Sunyu, Deputy Executive Director and Secretary-General of ICEE, XU Lihui, Assistant Secretary-General of ICEE, and WANG Yujia, Project Lead of the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE), attended the meeting.
Prof. WANG Sunyu expressed the welcome to President Aung Kyaw Myat and his team on behalf of ICEE. WANG congratulated the success of the 31st FEIAP General Assembly & 7th Special Distinguished Lectures that was held in Myanmar in September this year. He said that engineering education accreditation and professional engineer system development are the key research areas of ICEE. In 2019, ICEE was invited to join the expert working group of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and made contributions to the promulgation of the new standard of Graduate Attributes and Professional Competencies (GAPC) of the International Engineering Alliance (IEA), which was recognized and acknowledged by IEA and WFEO at the 31st FEIAP General Assembly in Myanmar.
President Aung Kyaw Myat and his colleagues introduced the background of FEIAP, the history of development of Myanmar Engineering Council and their recent work. As one of the major engineering organizations in the Asia-Pacific region, FEIAP has played an important and positive role in strengthening multilateral recognition of regional engineering capacity and promoting the mobility of engineers in the Asia-Pacific region, etc. The two sides also conducted in-depth communication on enhancing international cooperation and exchanges and the invitation for the International Forum on Engineering Education.
