On December 26, the Group Standard Proposal Evaluation Meeting on General Requirements for Continuous Professional Development of Engineering Competence (the Standard) was held at Tsinghua University. The meeting was hosted by the School of Continuing Education, Tsinghua University and was attended by the drafting unit, drafting team members, experts responsible for the evaluation of the project proposal, as well as other experts, scholars and engineer representatives. QIAO Weifeng, an associate professor of research of ICEE and a member of the Continuous Professional Development Committee, Chinese Society of Engineers, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, QIAO Weifeng, on behalf of the principal drafting unit, elaborated on the content and management guidelines of the standard. FANG Siping, Director of the Scientific and Technological Talents Service Department at the CAST Center for Professional Training and Services, and Director of the Secretariat Office, Chinese Society of Engineers, expounded on the significance and importance of developing the Standard. LI Yue, Director of the Teaching Committee of the School of Continuing Education, Tsinghua University and a member of the Continuous Professional Development Committee, Chinese Society of Engineers, introduced the drafting unit and members therein of the Standard and announced the establishment of the working group.
The participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the group standard, focusing on such aspects as the basis for its compilation, practical experience, purpose and significance, principles and rules, as well as its comparison with international experience. They unanimously agreed that the establishment of the Standard would promote talent cultivation and professional development in engineering, thus enhancing the comprehensive abilities of engineering talents. After thorough discussions and deliberations, the expert panel was unanimous in the approval of the project proposal for the Standard. LIU Zhen, Dean of the School of Continuing Education, Tsinghua University and Chairperson of the Continuous Professional Development Committee, Chinese Society of Engineers, extended congratulations on the approval.
The meeting has laid a solid foundation for talent cultivation and professional development in engineering in China, and provided important institutional support for the Chinese Society of Engineers to conduct negotiations on international mutual recognition.
