Lev SARKISOV, Professor and Head of the Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science Department at the University of Manchester. Prior to joining Manchester, he was Professor in Molecular Thermodynamics and Director of the Chemical Engineering Discipline at the University of Edinburgh, UK. Originally from Russia, he graduated from Moscow Lomonosov Academy of Advanced Chemical Technologies, with BSc and MSc in Composite and Powder Materials.

He continued his studies in the Chemical Engineering PhD programme at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, followed by research positions at Northwestern and Yale Universities, USA. At Manchester, Sarkisov group specializes in molecular simulations and multiscale approaches to carbon capture, energy efficient separation processes, material informatics and other problems. Prof. Sarkisov serves on the editorial boards of the journals of Adsorption, Adsorption Science and Technology, and Molecular Simulation. He is one of the directors of the International Adsorption Society.
