Prof. Bie has been engaged in the fundamental theory and key technology of power system planning and reliability over decades, and has made a series of research achievements regarding the theory and efficient algorithm of reliability evaluation for complex power systems, as well as the multi random factor modeling and probabilistic analysis of power systems. The achievements constitute the key technology of comprehensive planning of the power systems with renewables, which has been promoted and applied in many power grids and over 870 renewable energy stations across the country. She has also developed the fundamental theory of planning, operation and trading of the energy Internet, and established the energy Internet simulation platform. The achievements have been applied to the energy systems of many industrial or campus parks including the iHarbour. She has established the theoretical framework for the power system resilience, and developed the power grid enhancement and rapid after-disaster recovery technology towards extreme events, which have been applied in Guangzhou and Zhejiang power grids.
Prof. Bie has presided over the formulation and implementation of the worldwide first international standard for microgrid, with filling the international gap, and was awarded the IEC 1906 Award. In the past five years, she has published more than 60 academic papers in authoritative academic journals, and has been selected as "China's highly cited scholar" by Elsevier. She has more than 30 authorized invention patents, presided over the formulation of 2 international standards and 1 industrial standard, acted as the principal investigators for over 10 national scientific research projects, including the national key R&D projects and the key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. She is also the winner of 5 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards.
