On March 5, 2023, the Global Partnership Board of International Centre for Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO (“ICEE”) visited China Women's University, and held a meeting with the executive bodies of the UNESCO Chair on “Media and Gender”—the Media and Female Research Center of Communication University of China and the International Women's Communication Institute of China Women's University.
SHEN Ye, Assistant to Secretary-General of ICEE and Secretary-General of the Global Partnership Board, and LIU Liqun, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of China Women's University and UNESCO Chair on “Media and Gender” attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by LI Ying, Vice President of China Women's University.
LIU Liqun welcomed the arrival of the Global Partnership Board of ICEE. She briefly introduced the work of China Women's University and the Chair on “Media and Gender” in international cooperation and exchange. According to her, the University is a think tank for women's research and also an important window showcasing non-governmental exchange of Chinese women with foreign counterparts. She expressed her hope for cooperation with ICEE in women's development and research in the future.
SHEN Ye introduced ICEE's work in consultation and research, education and training, and international exchange. Noting that women play a very important role in sustainable development, she hoped that the two sides would jointly study the growth history of Chinese female engineers, and encourage more women to engage in engineering to contribute to global sustainable development.
LI Ying introduced the Women's Oral History Project of China Women's University, a project that has conducted in-depth research and data collection on women's survival and career development in various fields and industries in China. LI Ying said that China Women's University has developed a mature system in the collection of women's oral history data, relevant work framework and flow as well as application of research results, etc.
Later on, the two sides exchanged views on the special research of Chinese female engineers, discussed the research feasibility and resources, and the prospect of further research. WANG Qin and TANG Jinying from the Media and Female Research Center of Communication University of China, LIU Yan, ZHANG Wenhui and DING Yang from the International Women's Communication Institute of China Women's University, and LI Chao from the Global Partnership Board of ICEE attended the meeting.
